Both Mr. E. W. Carpenter an

Xavier, who carried on Mr. C. H. Gale's duties during his absence,

worked a great deal of overtime. They are both very zealous and cap-

-able officers and I consider that they deserve extra remuneration.

The amount of overtime they worked amounted

.92 ordinary working days.

Their present salaries are at the rate of:-

and, if teken at these rates, the amounts they would receive would be

about £99 and £92 respectively.

Xavier each receive a gratuity of £60. kr. Carpenter is at present on

leave and, if my recommendation be approved, the Crown Agents should be instructed to make payment to him.
